CRACK OPEN THE CHAMPAGNE –THE VALLEY HAVE HAD THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON (but only just!!!!)

After inserting the opposition The Valley got off to the best possible start by getting a crucial wicket in the first over, but with consistent batting against a well balanced Valley attack saw Team Boon (a team with an iconic history in Christchurch Club Cricket) score a respectable 188 , their captain Scott Bermingham scoring an attractive 50 and Sam Rendall a hard hitting 46. Kade Atkinson 3/18  and captain Dayle Eathorne 2/22 were the most successful of the Valleys attack.

Aided by a solid opening partnership between Hugo Davison ( a late, late replacement) and Tim Yardley, the  home team looked on track for a comfortable victory , but with 3 run-outs  the game quickly balanced up and went down to the wire, with the Valley winning with 2 balls to spare. The backbone of the innings came from a debutant Mike McArdle, who batted with much composure in scoring 60.

A terrific days cricket , played in a most enjoyable and competitive spirit. Team Boon proved to be an excellent addition to the Valleys fixture list.
