On a calm and sunny day at the Valley of Peace Christchurch Boys High School Old Boys XI won the toss and put the Christ’s College Old Boys XI in to bat. With Dayle Eathorne showing lively pace early batting was not going to be easy for College.

While James Thomson, Andrew Gould, Matt Hudson and Dave McKenzie all got useful starts at the crease the skilful spin of Dan Burrows and Charlie Sidey kept a tight rein on the flow of runs with wickets falling at regular intervals. CBHS were left 115 to chase. Fortunately, Jack Harris (86) was on hand to almost single-handedly take on that target, narrowly missing for a second time his maiden century at the Valley. School finally reached the target with a loss of 6 wickets. The game was played in great spirit and sportsmanship with College already strategizing for their turn as victors when we next meet.
