This year’s Valley of Peace Cricket Club working bee comes as our season finishes, but preparations for the season ahead start now. Maintenance of the pitch, the grounds and facilities is a 12-month effort, which will reap long-term rewards, come the new cricket season later this year.

Specifically, your Club requires fit and able people to help spread some new topsoil on the wicket block. Please bring a shovel, rakes and if practical a wheelbarrow. If you don’t have this gear, that’s OK as there will be other jobs in the offing. We will be over-wintering the covers, lifting fences and re-erecting the electric fence to keep the deer off the pitch, as they’ll be in numbers after their food supply further up the Valley was decimated during this summer’s fires.

Family, friends, neighbours, foreign dignitaries etc are all more than welcome, and Speedo has promised a morning tea! Seeing as many faces down at the Valley this Sunday morning would be great. Many hands make for lighter work and greater results!
